How the online mirror works
The page shows your camera's live picture flipped left to right, just like a real mirror, so moving your right hand moves the hand on the right of the screen. Tick Show as others see me to turn the flip off: that's the view people get on a video call, and why your hair parting can look "wrong" in photos.
The fill light puts a bright white frame around the picture. In a dark room, turn your screen brightness up and the frame lights your face like a small ring light.
Handy uses
- Check your look before a video call without opening a meeting app.
- Look for something in your eye or teeth, using zoom.
- Check your background and lighting before going live or recording.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the mirror look blurry when zoomed in?
Zoom enlarges the camera's own picture, so detail is limited by your camera's resolution. Move closer instead for a sharper view.
The picture is black.
Check for a privacy shutter over the lens or a camera-off key on your keyboard, and make sure no other app is using the camera.
Can I use my phone's back camera?
The mirror uses the front camera so you can see the screen. For the back camera, use the webcam test.
